Graphics Creation Guide for Non-Artists in Emergency Management
In the fast paced world of emergency management, outsourcing graphics is frequently not a possibility. (Not to mention how much it can cost to do so.) This frequently results in graphics being created by people with little to no training who are just doing the best they can with what they have. However, without that training those graphics may be hard to read, low quality, and not achieving the intended goals.
But art can be trained and learned like any other skill. It is not some innate talent that you have to be born with. To help with this, in 2025 I created the guide featured below to help outline basic design principals and why it matters to get them right in emergency related communication materials. This guide is not meant to make you an amazing artist, it is meant to help you do your main job better by covering the bare bones basics so your communication materials can be as effective as possible.
